Investor Visa
Residency through a qualified investment in Panama.
A permanent residency pathway for internationals who place capital into Panamanian real estate, a fixed bank deposit, or a qualifying business venture.
Overview
Who the Investor Visa is for
The Investor Visa (often referred to as the Qualified Investor Visa) is Panama’s fastest residency pathway and is aimed at applicants ready to commit meaningful capital up front. It does not require physical residency in Panama during the application process and, where the application file is complete, permanent residency can be issued in as little as 30 working days under the qualified-investor track.
It is the standard choice for high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs acquiring a Panamanian business, and buyers of titled real estate above the program threshold. Unlike the Friendly Nations Visa, the Investor Visa goes directly to permanent residency, with no intermediate temporary phase.
Requirements
What you need to qualify
Applicants must place and maintain qualifying capital in one of three forms:
- Real estate: a minimum US$300,000 investment in titled Panamanian real estate, registered in the applicant’s name or through a Panamanian entity owned by the applicant.
- Fixed-term bank deposit: at least US$300,000 in a Panamanian bank, held for five years.
- Business investment: at least US$160,000 in a qualifying Panamanian business, with at least five Panamanian employees and the corresponding social security registrations.
The capital must be transferred from a foreign source and documented through the Panamanian banking system. On top of the investment, the standard supporting documents apply: apostilled passport copy, birth and marriage certificates, clean criminal background check, and a Panamanian health certificate. The investment must be maintained for as long as the residency is in force.
